Full list of the most violent cities in the UK
New crime figures have highlighted major differences in violent crime levels across the UK, with one seaside town standing out as the country’s most affected area.
Recent data indicate that the town of Blackpool recorded the highest rate of violent offenses in Britain. Statistics suggest that nearly one in every 20 residents was impacted by violent crime, placing the Lancashire destination ahead of all other local authority areas.
Police records show that Blackpool experienced around 69 violent incidents per 1,000 residents over the past year, giving it the highest rate in the country.
Other locations also reported significant levels of violent crime. Bradford and Westminster followed closely behind, each registering rates above 53 offenses for every 1,000 residents. Manchester and Middlesbrough were also among the areas with notably high figures, both exceeding 50 incidents per 1,000 people.
At the opposite end of the scale, several areas recorded comparatively low rates of violence. Buckinghamshire had one of the lowest figures at 14.3 offenses per 1,000 residents. Similar levels were recorded in places including Waverley, Wokingham, Richmond upon Thames, and the Isles of Scilly.
Officials have described the figures as concerning and pointed to the wider social issues often linked with serious crime.
Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said violent crime can have long-term consequences beyond individual incidents, affecting communities and placing pressure on public services. He stressed that addressing serious violence requires cooperation between policing, healthcare, local authorities, and the justice system.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by places such as Blackpool, where large visitor numbers combine with wider social and economic difficulties.
Blackpool has long faced significant deprivation issues. Around 40% of the town's neighborhoods fall into the most deprived category in England. The area also experiences high unemployment, healthcare pressures, and one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the country.
Bradford faces similar social challenges. The city is among England’s most deprived local authority areas, with reports indicating that a large proportion of children live in relative poverty.
Lancashire Police said dedicated teams continue to work across Blackpool, focusing on community engagement, investigations, and rapid response efforts to improve public safety and reduce crime.

Crime data from Blackpool further showed over 3,100 violent offenses involving injuries, alongside more than 4,000 incidents where no injury was recorded. Authorities also reported approximately 2,700 cases linked to stalking and harassment, contributing to the town’s overall figures.
This latest data highlights the uneven picture of violent crime across the UK and raises renewed questions about the role of social and economic factors in shaping community safety.
